How can I speed up access to NetBank on my computer?

Installing the latest web browsers for your operating system can improve NetBank access speed. We recommend that you install the latest updates and service packs for your operating system and web browser.

The speed of NetBank is also dependent upon a number of factors outside of the control of the Bank, including:

  • The speed of your computer processor
  • The amount of memory you have installed in your computer
  • The speed, quality and reliability of your internet connection

You will need to make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements and your browser settings are correct.

If you use Windows XP and Internet Explorer we recommend you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 with the latest service pack and security updates installed (this link will open a new window to take you to the selected site).

If you normally access the internet through a proxy server and cannot access NetBank, try disabling your proxy connection.

Why do the different sections on the NetBank ‘home’ page overlap and not allow me to view my balances?

This could relate to the Dots Per Inch (DPI) setting on your computer. The normal DPI setting is 96 DPI.

If you are using Windows XP the best way to check your DPI setting is as follows:

  • Open the ‘Display’ icon in your control panel
  • On the ‘Settings’ tab, click ‘Advanced’
  • On the ‘General’ tab, in the DPI setting list, click the DPI setting you want to use

If you are using Windows Vista the best way to check your DPI setting is as follows:

  • Open the ‘Personalisation’ icon in your control panel
  • Go to the ‘Settings’ tab
  • Select ‘Adjust font size (DPI)’ from the ‘Tasks’ menu, in the DPI setting list; click the DPI setting you want to use

Why do I receive a security warning saying 'This page contains secure and unsecure information' when I try to access NetBank?

The security warning that you receive when attempting to access NetBank is a result of the browser, operating system and security setting combination you have on your machine.

The unsecured items that this message is warning you about are graphics. Your security will not be compromised in any way if you allow the unsecure items within the NetBank pages to be downloaded. The main reason we have not secured these items is to increase access speed to NetBank.

How do I set my browser so it does not cache secured pages?

You can set your browser so that it doesn't cache secured pages. This will ensure that your secure information is not retained in the memory of your local hard drive when you end your NetBank session and close your browser. This is particularly important if other people access your computer or you are using a machine in a public place such as a library or internet café. See your browser’s Help function for setting details.

Please note: Not caching secured pages may affect the performance of NetBank as each page will need to load from the server when accessed.

  1. Select ‘Tools’ from the toolbar
